Welcome to the capital of Russia!

Moscow is one of the most important world science and research centers with tremendous intellectual and technological resources. It is really the nice place to hold international conferences and congresses, exhibitions and festivals, business meetings. Moscow is the country’s largest city; it’s political, economic, business, educational, religious and cultural center.

The city is located in the far west of the country on the river Moskva and occupies the area of about 1000 sq.km. Moscow is considered to be the most populous European city (12 million people) and it continues to grow. Now it is a modern, dynamic and fast developing metropolis, the center of Russia’s economic and cultural life and an active part of all global processes.

Moscow was founded by prince Yury Dolgoruky and was first mentioned in the chronicles in 1147. Time passed and Moscow grew into a wealthy city. At the end of 15th century, during Ivan III’s reign, Moscow has become the capital of Russia. Moscow Kremlin built in the beginning of the 15th century is a benchmark of that epoch. But in 1712 Peter the Great has transferred the capital to Saint Petersburg. Anyway Moscow remained the heart of Russia. It became the main target of Napoleon’s attack in the war of 1812 when three quarters of the city were destroyed by fire. After the war Moscow was completely rebuilt. After the October revolution Moscow became the capital again.
The present-day Moscow is a modern and comfortable city striking by the impressive combination of the ancient atmosphere full of traditions, on the one hand, and the progressive innovations of the 21-century, on the other hand. The very heart and soul of Russia, Moscow is old and young at the same time.
